"Music Makes My Day" was recorded as a personal statement of some of my influences during my music career.
"Sloop John B" was the first track on one of my favourite "Beach Boys" albums, "Pet Sounds", so I decided to record "Sloop John B" as the first track on my CD.
Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were also a great influence. That's why there are three Frankie Valli / Four Seasons songs on this CD.
One of my favourite "Beatles" songs from the film, "A Hard Day's Night", the ballad "If I Fell". I saw this film on numerous occasions during my teens, and this song has always been very special to me.
"Life is a Roller Coaster" is from my solo set. I love the "double-tracking" I did on this recording".
"I Love to Boogie" is also a favourite from my solo set.
"Fragile" originally written and recorded by "Sting" is another song that is very special to me.
"Tradewind" was written by "Big Al Hodge". This song has always been a personal favourite.
The "End of the Innocence" written my Bruce Hornsby/Don Henley and a hit for "Don Henley" of the "Eagles". This was a very difficult song to sing, but I felt it had to be included on this CD.
"The "Best Of My Love" by the Eagles. A wonderful ballad.
"Venus in Blue Jeans" was a hit for Mark Wynter in 1962. I double-tracked the vocals all through this song.
"To Make You Feel My Love" was written by Bob Dylan and a hit for country singer "Garth Brooks"
"Fire and Rain" was a hit for James Taylor in the early 70's.
"Disney Girls" is a song written by Bruce Johnson of the Beach Boys. It was released on their 1971 album Surf's Up. This song has always been very special to me. The lyrics takes me back to the days when the world wasn't so complicated.
The final track, "Surfer Girl" (bonus track) is an out-take from a "Coconut Grove" recording session. This is the version that was recorded "live" as we sang it.
A ticket for Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons at the Cornwall Coliseum on Saturday 28th February 1981.
I remember Geoff Treverton of the original Coconut Grove also attending this concert. What a brilliant night.
The Frankie Valli concert ticket is on this page because of the Frankie Valli songs on my CD. I couldn't think of anywhere else to put it.
